Four Injured After Pickup Crashes Into Truck, Traffic Sign On Route 78: Njsp

Four people were injured in a two-car crash on Route 78 in Hunterdon County on the morning of Friday, March 8, authorities said.

At 9:22 a.m.., a Ford pickup traveling eastbound struck the back of a Freightliner truck that was parked on the right shoulder on Route 78 East in Union Township, Troy McNair, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.

The Ford continued alongside the right side of the Freightliner before striking the front of the tractor trailer and a traffic sign, McNair said. The driver of the Ford, a 21-year-old Los Angeles resident and a passenger, a 21-year-old Brooklyn resident, suffered serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital, McNair said.

Two other passengers sustained minor injuries, McNair said. The accident remains under investigation, McNair said.
